County Agencies
SeniorNavigator
is a
national model for aging and disability resources, bringing over 21,000 health
and aging resources to seniors, caregivers, adults with disabilities and their
families. SeniorNavigator is a public/private partnership with the Commonwealth
of Virginia, Virginia Department
for the Aging, local governments, and hundreds of private sector
partners. Valuable information on health, legal and financial issues,
housing, long-term care, transportation, caregiving, aging, and community in
all Virginia localities can be found ‘at the click of a mouse’! www.seniornavigator.org is the website name. Hollin
Hall’s computer lab (Room 215) is in the process of dedicating a portion of the
large bulletin board to this resource as well as a compilation of useful
articles in a handy binder. See Patti Bruch, Assistant Director for more
information or assistance on the computer with this website.
Meals on Wheels/Nutritional Supplement
One of the primary objectives of the Fairfax Area Agency on Aging (AAA) is
to promote independent living for senior residents of Fairfax County and the
cities of Fairfax and Falls Church (referred to as the Fairfax area). The Home-Delivered Meals (Meals on Wheels) and Nutritional Supplement programs help older adults and adults
with disabilities remain at home while they are recovering from surgery or
other short-term medical problems and help those with long-term chronic
illnesses avoid or delay institutionalization. A friend, relative, nurse,
doctor or social worker may call the Fairfax Area Agency on Aging at
703-324-7948 in order to make a referral to either program. Inquire at Hollin
Hall and we will put you in touch with the proper resources.
